Bazaar Ramadhan

A
wonderful recent phenomenon in Malaysia is the development of the
Bazaar Ramadhan during which an abundance and great variety of culinary
delights appear for the period of the fasting month.
These 'bazaars' generally begin to set up at around four o'clock in
the afternoon and last until slightly after dust, and visitors should
be able to find information on the locations from the nearest tourist
information centre. Otherwise, follow the locals as they head for
the colourful and aromatic makeshift roadside stalls.
Deepavali

Deepavali
or the festival of lights is observed by Hindus in recognition of
the triumph of good over evil in the seventh month of the Hindu calendar.
Thanksgiving prayers and cleansing rituals take place at temple and
household altars throughout the country.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri
3 - 4 November 2005
Venue: Throughout Malaysia
The
holy month of Ramadhan culminates in the celebration of Hari Raya
Aidilfitri for Muslims around the world. In Malaysia, t he
day begins with visits to graveyards and then prayers followed by
the asking of forgiveness by the younger of their elders. As usual
an abundance of food and delicacies abound as part of festivities.
Visitors should watch out for the many official 'Open Houses' that
take place during this time to which all are welcome. Go early if
you want to beat the heat and queues.
