On this day, Buddhists observe the birth, enlightenment and
death of Lord Buddha. Religious offerings and rituals such
as 'bathing of the Buddha', chanting of holy scriptures, lighting
of joss sticks and ordination of monks usually take place
in Buddhist temples. Come nightfall, there will be grand processions
in cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Seremban, Melaka
and Georgetown.

National Water Festival - Labuan International Sea Challenge

The Labuan International Sea Challenge welcomes participants
from around the world to join in an amazing week of:
(i) Rolex IGFA International Game Fishing Tournament
The prestigious deep sea fishing tournament is part of the
qualifying circuit of the Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship.
It is the region's most challenging and the only extended
long range deep sea fishing tournament.
(ii) Cross Channel Swimming Challenge
The swim spans 5.4km of open sea towards Pulau Papan and back
to Labuan. Local and international swimmers view to break
fast year's speed records and set new times in the domestic
and open categories.
(iii) Labuan International Extreme Kayak Challenge Not one
for the faint hearted, this race is one of the longest and
toughest in Malaysia. Comprising of the individual and double
categories, the race will be in a double format covering a
distance of 84km across the Brunei Bay, starting from Labuan
to Sopitang and back.
(iv) Round Island Kayak Challenge
The kayak race designed for the highly skilled enthusiast.
The course is 50km long and runs along the perimeter shoreline
of Labuan Island.

World Harvest Festival 2007 & Gawai Dayak Sarawak

by the Ibans, Orang Ulu and Bidayuh of Sarawak. This fun-filled
festivals showcase the cultures of the main ethnic group in

around the region are also invited to participate in the festival.

A celebration by the largest ethnic group in Sabah, comprising
the Kadazan Dusun and Murut communities. Held annually to
give thanks for a bountiful harvest of rice, this event culminates
at the state level in the district of Penampang. Here, visitors
can witness and experience the Kadazan Dusun culture at its
grandest scale. Join the locals as they sing, dance, feast
and play traditional games! This is also the time the Harvest
Queen (or Unduk Ngadau) is selected.
